A Chorus of Black Voids Sings In Rays of Unseeable Light
2017
A Chorus of Black Voids… is a live, expanded cinema performance that explores the different materialities of 16mm film, analog video, and digital video manipulated by interactive software. The synthesis of these different media into a single system gestures toward what I call “media ontology”, or an exploration of how each medium ‘lives’ in the world, how they relate to one another, and how they ‘die’. Chorus… also draws on the balance between light and darkness inherent to cinema, creating a spectacle for the viewer to contemplate the moral and theological implications of that same light and darkness.

Performance with 2x16mm projection, analog video synthesis, custom software.
Awards
